Polimetales holds two properties in the world’s famous Maricunga Gold Belt: Lagunilla and Valle Ancho.

Location

Located in the Province of Catamarca, the properties cover around 60,000 ha in a highly prospective ground, surrounded by producing mines or active exploration projects.

Over 60 million ounces of gold where discovered in areas contiguous to Lagunilla and Valle Ancho Norte. The belt has a protracted history of exploration success and gold mining, although the Argentinean side of the belt is particularly under-explored.

There are almost no copper-gold districts in the world left unexplored. Even less located in a stable, mining-friendly jurisdiction.

Geology

The basements in the region are formed by Carboniferous volcanics of Choiyoi formation.

The basement is intruded by Miocene and Eocene felsic volcanic rocks, which bring the mineralization to the Maricunga Belt.

The Plio/pleistocene sediments and basaltic lavas cover the previous units and sometimes cover the mineral deposits.

Detailed Mapping in Don Segundo target shows a high sulfidation system open in an erosional window surrounded by young lava flows.
